The Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Team in Abu Dhabi holds its first meeting for the current year

Emirates News Agency/The Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Team held its first meeting for the current year in Abu Dhabi. The meeting was headed by H.E. Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Head of the Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Team at the Team’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. Al Mazrouei praised the efforts of H.E. Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al-Rumaithi, Former Head of the Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Team, and the time he dedicated to develop the emergency, crisis and disaster management system. He also stated that during his time as Head of the Team, Al-Rumaithi helped establish the necessary foundations for the Team’s response system based on a clear, scientifically and professionally framed strategy.

H.E. Al Mazrouei was briefed on the role that the Team is carrying out and its main responsibilities, as well as the approach used to deal with emergencies, crises and disasters in the Emirate, the emergencies and crises that have been handled, and the plans that have been developed to raise the readiness of the main teams in the Emirate to handle any emergencies.

During the meeting, the attendants discussed the main topics on the agenda for the coming period and addressed the recent developments in order to assess the Team’s role with respect to rapid response, ensuring effective communication with the competent authorities that specialize in the field of crises management, and providing the necessary requirements in order to support all the team and their response capabilities across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

At the end of the meeting, H.E. praised the work carried out by the Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Team in Abu Dhabi as well as the other local supporting bodies, stating that it is important for the team to continue working on raising the readiness level to deal with any emergency, update the approved plans, reinforce the joint action between the local bodies in the Emirate to ensure quick response to any emergencies, ensure the implementation of the necessary procedures to reduce the chances of crises taking place, and finally maintain joint coordination with respect to capacity building needed to manage emergencies.
